Dr. Casey Cutter
Dr. Casey Cutter began his career in education as a third- and fourth-grade teacher in Colorado before moving to Tennessee, where he continued teaching at Adrian Burnett and Ball Camp Elementary Schools. His passion for helping both students and teachers grow led him into administration, where he first served as Assistant Principal at Copper Ridge Elementary and Norwood Elementary.
In 2017, Dr. Cutter became Principal of Mount Olive Elementary, where the school earned its first Reward School distinction and maintained that status for two of his three years as principal. Under his leadership, Mount Olive also achieved three consecutive years of Level 5 growth scores for the first time in its history.
From 2020 to 2022, Dr. Cutter served as Principal of Sam Houston Elementary School, where he led the school to its first-ever National Blue Ribbon School designation and achieved the highest Level 5 scores in both achievement and growth in both years of his tenure.
Since 2022, Dr. Cutter has served as the proud Principal of Blue Grass Elementary School, where the school has achieved Reward School status each year and has consistently earned the highest Level 5 scores in both achievement and growth year after year, as well as recognition among the Top 50 Elementary Schools in the state by U.S. News & World Report.
Dr. Cutter has always believed that a great school begins with a great school culture—and that without it, extraordinary heights cannot be achieved. Guided by that philosophy, he has worked with staff and students to develop the 20 Blue Grass Eagle Essentials, a set of core character traits that shape the school’s culture and daily interactions. He also helped launch Eagles Nests, a cross-grade mentoring system designed to strengthen connections and belonging among students of all ages.
He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and a Leadership Academy Fellowship from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as well as a Master’s in Education from Regis University and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cutter has been recognized for his work in leadership development, data-driven school improvement, and cultivating positive, student-centered school cultures. He continues to lead Blue Grass Elementary with a commitment to excellence, character, and community—helping every Eagle soar to their highest potential.
